Overview
We take your privacy seriously. The StreetFire Sound Labs ("StreetFire") Privacy Policy is based on the following principle: respect and protect the privacy of our customers as we would our own. In fact, the founders of StreetFire have included their own personal information in our customer database to ensure that we stand firmly behind our Policy. It is especially important for on-line consumers to know their digital privacy rights, so please take a moment to review our Privacy Policy.
This policy only addresses services provided via our web servers. Other websites, such as those we link to, may have their own policies. Whenever possible, we try to ensure that our Privacy Policy extends to our partners.
Why we collect personal information
StreetFire collects your personal information to give you superior customer service and to provide you with convenient access to our products. In addition, we are able to keep you up to date on the latest product announcements, software updates, special offers, and other information we think you would like to hear about. We may occasionally include information about products and services from other technology companies that can add value to your StreetFire products. From time to time, we may also attempt to contact you to participate in a market research survey, so that we can gauge customer satisfaction and develop better products for you.
If you do not want to receive such information from StreetFire, send an email to our Support Team to update your personal contact preferences.
How we collect personal information
Whenever you make a StreetFire purchase, we obtain from you the information we need to complete your transaction. This may include your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and the product(s) you bought. If you use a credit or debit card, it will include your account number.
When you register with us as a customer or opt-in to a mailing list, we may ask for additional information, such as your product preferences or interests. You are not required to submit this information, but it does help us to serve you better.
To improve our Web site, we collect non-personal information about how users navigate through the site. This statistical information does not include individual names or personal data, so it does not identify you or any other customer. We monitor and study traffic patterns so we can make our website even better and help us improve our communication with you.
In some of our email to you, we may use a "click-through URL". When you click one of these URLs, you pass through our web server before arriving at the website that is your destination. We track click-throughs to help us determine your interest in particular topics and to measure the effectiveness of our customer communications.
[The StreetFire software may automatically contact our main servers periodically to determine if an update is available. When this happens, we do not collect personal information about you, only the technical information required to send you the correct software update. You may turn off this feature at any time.]
StreetFire software does not contain spyware or a "keylogger"; we do not run any background processes that report back to us information about your software or hardware configuration, your keystrokes, your MP3 library, or your web browsing or purchasing habits. We think that stuff should be outlawed.
When we disclose personal information
StreetFire will not sell your personal information to a mailing list outfit. Period. We don't like getting spam and we're quite sure that you don't either.
StreetFire works with other companies that help us provide StreetFire products and services to you, and we may provide your personal information to these companies. For example, we give shipping companies this information so they can deliver your products efficiently. The information they receive is for shipping and delivery purposes only, and we require that the companies safeguard your personal information in accordance with StreetFire's policies.
If we are required by law to disclose the information that you have submitted, we will attempt to provide you with notice (unless we are prohibited) that a request for your information has been made in order to give you an opportunity to object to the disclosure. We will attempt to provide this notice by email or by postal mail if you have entered this information. We will independently object to overly broad requests for access to information about users of our site or our customers. If you do not challenge the disclosure request, we may be legally required to turn over your information.
Personal information will be shared with a successor in interest in StreetFire or to a purchaser of StreetFire assets, in the event that StreetFire is involved in a merger or acquisition, provided such successor/purchaser is required to comply with the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy. We're focused on building great products and a healthy, independent company. However, in the event of some sort of change in ownership at any point in the future, providing your data to the acquirer provides you with continuity of superior customer service.
How we protect your personal information
StreetFire safeguards the security of the data you send us with physical, electronic, and managerial procedures. We urge you to take every precaution to protect your personal data when you are on the Internet. Please!
To make StreetFire purchases from our e-commerce partner via our web site, you must use a browser enabled with the industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. This protects the confidentiality of your personal and credit card information while it is transmitted over the Internet. When the letters "http" in the URL change to "https," the "s" indicates you are in a secure area employing SSL; also, your browser may give you a pop-up message that you're about to enter a secure area. You may also call us with an order at (415) 222-9990 between 8am-5pm PT.
Finally, we communicate these privacy guidelines to every StreetFire employee.
"Can I Update or Remove my Personal Information?"
You may update or remove your personal information from our system at any time, by contacting our Support Team.
You may opt-out of any mailing lists that you previously signed up for by following the directions at the end of the message. If you choose to "opt-out," we will stop sending you e-mails. Please note, however, that some e-mail promotions are prepared well in advance, so you may continue to receive offers after you have chosen to "opt-out." We appreciate your patience in giving us time to carry out your request.
Children's Privacy
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act took effect on April 21, 2000. It imposes certain requirements on Web sites directed at children under 13 that collect information on those children, and on Web sites that knowingly collect information on children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 on our Web site, and our online prize competitions are restricted to entrants who are at least 15 years old.
No one under the age of 18 should submit any personal information to this or any other Web site without the consent of a parent or guardian.
Changes to This Privacy Statement
StreetFire may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any major changes in the way your personally identifiable data may be used, we will post the new text on our website.
